What is 2738 Steel or P20 Steels?

This alloy is in the group usually branded as Mold Steels. Nickel and chromium are the alloying components for rigidity and durability. This alloy is most often used in the carburized circumstance.

Naturally used for low temperature applications such as die casting dies and injection molds.

P20+Ni is specially used for Plastic injection die moulds. The characteristics of a material are right sharpening, photo-etching properties with high purity and good homogeneity.

P20+Ni is upgraded version of plastic mold steel 0f 2311, which normally supply in Pre hardened condition. Hardness in as supplied condition 280-320 HB with having uniform hardness.

2738 mold steel is a German DIN standard steel grade.

DIN 1.2738 is specially used for Plastic injection die moulds. The characteristics of a material are right sharpening, photo-etching properties with high purity and good homogeneity.

The additional nickel content of 1 % increases through hardening. It has good machinability, suitable for Texturing, fine polishability, adequate corrosion resistance, vacuum-degassed steel.
